On 19 June 2024, Permata Group held another virtual Supplier Workshop as part of its ongoing supplier engagement program. The workshop aimed to raise awareness on the critical importance of adhering to NDPE principles (No Deforestation, No Peat, and No Exploitation) and the urgency of EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) enforcement later in 2024. A total of 67 mill representatives participated in the workshop, which also included comprehensive training on Permata’s Self-Assessment Tool (SAT Tool), discussions on NDPE action plans and capacity building.

The workshop commenced with Permata Group reiterating its commitment to NDPE practices and outlining the necessary steps to comply with EUDR requirements and their implications. Focal point of the workshop was the EUDR requirements, which outlines stringent requirements for companies to assess and mitigate risks associated with deforestation and legal compliance. Suppliers received detailed guidance on preparing for EUDR obligations, stressing the importance of conducting rigorous due diligence process and traceability to ensure transparency throughout the supply chain.

A significant portion of the workshop was dedicated to train suppliers on utilizing the SAT Tools, suppliers were provided with detailed instructions on navigating the Traceability to Plantation (TTP) Form. This included instructions on declaring information of FFB (Fresh Fruit Bunches) source such as geo-location data, which serves as a crucial tool in tracing the origins of FFB received in production.

The workshop concluded with a strong call to action for all participants to embrace NDPE principles and comply with EUDR requirements. Collaboration and transparency were emphasized as essential steps toward continual improvement in sustainable sourcing practices.
